Beefeater

Sometimes I like to drink, and sometimes I like that thing I'm drinking to be gin.

Characters From a Bottle

What if there were a fighting game dedicated to all our favorite alcoholic beverages? I like to think that this is what the versus screen would look like....but in color.

That's Right. I'm Doing It.

Okay wise guys. Because no one believed it would happen (I do remember some scoffing as you all left my house tonight), I'm gonna go right on ahead and throw up a topic. This week's topic is: Characters From A Bottle. Pick your favorite brand of alcohol and design a character for it. If it doesn't already have a mascot, create one! If it does, then draw them your way. Do whatever you want - just somehow link it to the bottle we've miserably poured our dreams into since the death of this blog. If you don't like it - TOUGH!!!

You did this. It is your fault.

At first I was going to do a big robot covered in neon lights hauling gattlin' gun hands and a small asian looking child piloting this mammoth tool of destruction. I save this for another day. I felt a moment of whimsy. This is the result.

Voldemort would be so excited about this.

Unicorns took the twilight craze pretty hard.

Stealth Recon

super overkill and very neon ( i've been watching the tron trailer a lot :P )  I figured this was a good chance to finally do a futuristic soldier concept and to finally do some freaking weapons for my portfolio.

WEEK 16

HEY BONERS. Here's your words.

1. Overkill
2. Neon

GO GO GO

Fashionably late.

I figured I'd keep you in suspense and post this a few months after the prompt. This ol' mind didn't forget, sharp as a fucking tack. (I'm so sorry)

Well, if you don't know who this is, you are stupid, because you have never heard the screeching call of the Cobra Commander. He wasted millions upon millions of dollars of technical research and hardware every few minutes, but he wasn't a wuss. He solved all problems by speeding at them sticking out of (insert vehicle here) yelling nonsense and cackling while fist pumping like a goddamn mad man, backed by an army of robot soldiers, because who else could be cool enough to follow him.

And he had a really hot girlfriend. He was a true man's man.

Watch this. Bonus points if you somehow manage not to laugh at Destro.

Feeling Bad....

...because I was the one who suggested we start this again and then got too busy once it revived! Shame on me. So I'm taking a slight risk here posting this because I know that at least Tyler will start throwing out the C-word like crazy once he sees it. This doesn't quite go all the way back to my childhood, but regardless, it's a fond memory of younger years when I too was a bit of an anime nerd. This is my semi-realist tribute to the most bad-ass, girly-sounding assassin of the Meiji Revolution, Kenshin Himura. I wanted to go a bit Sargent with it - and by that I mean look nothing like a Sargent (damn him for always painting and drawing so friggin' big!). Anyway, sorry it took so damn long to put something out here. And sorry it's not a finished masterpiece. But glad to see that everyone else is keeping it real! Oh yeah, I'll go ahead and dedicate this doodle to my big sis, since she was there nerding out with me through the whole series.

Wolvie

The other day, my friend got on of the DVDs of the old X-men cartoons and I was reminded how much cooler Gambit was than Wolverine.

Yay Zombies!

I guess I'll post first you slacker's, let's get this thing going again Sketch 2 Deather's!

The only thing I could think of is the absurd amount of video games that me and my older brother played. One of our favorites being Resident Evil, so I created this comic page of Jill Valentine running into a Crimson Head in one of the poorly lit hall ways of the infamous raccoon city mansion. Thankfully she is saved by none other than Mr. Zombie Killer himself Chris Redfield. This was great PS practice and I loved the subject, back when the camera was always positioned behind a potted plant so you couldn't see the blood soaked zombies stumble towards you and you didn't have enough bullets to kill them anyway ('''(;,,,,,;)''')

WEEK 15

Ok, we're going to take it pretty easy this time. Rather than having two crazy words, we're just going with a simple, two-word phrase to ease everyone back in.

1) Childhood
2) Memory

So absolutely anything that had an impact on you growing up. People, places, toys, shows, books, movies, imaginary friends, albums, games you used to play, an article of clothing, dreams, bugs, a particularly interesting soda can, or any other possible thought that comes into your head when you think about you in the past. Considering we haven't known each other THAT long, no one will know if your lying.

Just think of something you used to like and influenced what you've become. Or not, I don't care. Also bear in mind, no one is expecting these to be child-friendly drawings.

As for the
NEW RULES OF THE BLOG
1. words will be up for 3 weeks now. So you can do sketches (multiple if you want) or take an idea to a finished piece.
2. Last person to post on the topic must pick the next group of two words, that way everyone has a fair crack at these things.

Sound good?

Sagat

Here's my Sagat. I really liked the drawing I did, but trying to figure out an effective way to color it was a total pain because of all the hatching, and I still don't think the color job looks great (hence the smallness of the jpeg. :P) But I had fun with it anyway. We'll just say that the color is experimental.

Dhalsim

Sketchbooks may be unfinished. Business cards may be MIA. Unfinished projects may surround me, but I have finally done my Sketch 2 Death! I know more of you have drawings (I've seen'd dem), so lets get em on here.

Street Fighter -Vega

Vega, the only guy smart enough to bring some knives to a fist fight. This is way more fun than I thought it was gonna be. I wouldn't mind doing a chun li now just for the hell of it. So, is this action-y enough, or so I have to sketch this dude again.

Week 14

Alright, this week we've got something special in the works. Most of you (if not all of you) have been informed that we're going to be doing Street Fighter characters and then we're going to combine them all into one giant piece.

So leave a comment on this post that states what character you want to do so we don't get a bunch of repeats, and if people start having too much fun doing this, you can always do more characters after everyone has selected one.

Don't try to replicate the typical street fighter artwork. The idea is to stylize/tweak the character so that it looks like something created by you. We agreed that these should be taken to color (though I'm sure the level of finishes will vary between everyone). Make sure they're in some mildly action-y pose so that it looks as though they're all fighting when this is done. Some people may want to wait until one or two of these get posted and then build their design around the existing characters?

So when you have a chance, say what character you pick and lets get this high-school-nerd-wet-dream started

Gaht Dang

1.) Booze = check
2.) Rodent = well I'm sure this dude has had a rat tail at some point in his life.
Now who wants to crank some skynard, crack a bud and chuck some shoes?

"I'LL TELL YOU WHEN I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!"

As it was prophesied, so it has come to pass: Jake Murray has returned from death so that he might once again sketch......to death. So here's my rodent/booze piece. Who needs nuts for the winter when you can just keep toasty with a stockpile of alcohol?

Saved by the booze

This wee little rat was the only one to get away when the ship went down. You can thank the big guy up stairs for making sweet delicious rum and the fine buoyant bottles they come in.

Rat in a Bottle

A quick pen sketch of a rat that enjoys his sauce... maybe a little too much :D
